WHAT'S
THE LATEST ON THOSE STALLONE SEQUELS?

It could be - depending on the success of his new reality
series, "The Contender" - Sylvester Stallone's big
comeback year. If the show doesn't take off, we predict a
DTV Rhinestone 2 in his future.
First, here's the net's biggest Balboa/Oak fan, 'AB King'
with the latest on sequels five and three to Rocky
and Rambo respectively.
"In the UK, "NOW Magazine" a good Hollywood
source, says that Stallone's Rocky 6 will 100%
certainly be made providing "The Contender" does
not bomb totally. It said with Stallone's passion to do
another and with the completed script, Sony and MGM now with
different control are the most likely to distribute. Both
companies feel that although this will be a 6th movie they
are impressed with Stallone's script and vision and that the
movie can be made on a budget of $20m. It then said that
fans will see a very different Rocky compared to
previous films with a more gritty feel like Raging Bull
with the emphasis on realism and characterisation not the
comic book action seen in previous. Insiders say people will
be shocked at just how dark and real "touching modern
issues" the script is. And that it could be filmed with
a shaky camera style like The Bourne Supremacy and The
Shield. It then said that the script for Rambo 4
is completed and Stallone wanting to make it but finding a
studio to cough up millions of dollars to make and market it
will be difficult as Stallone has not had a big budget hit
since 1993's Cliffhanger.
Rambo 4 without a studio? Let's check in with a
studio insider on that.
OK, Here's our answer. Nope, seems Miramax/Dimension still
captains the Rambo ship, and - this is good news -
they're in talks with writers at the moment actually.
The rest, especially the Rocky 6 bit being budgeted
at $20 million sounds pretty much on-the-money. Apparently
it's going to be a return to the Indy-esque feel of the
original.
Thanks to 'AB'.
