Philly actress Jodi Letizia
and Hollywood heavyweight Sylvester Stallone put down their
gloves and reached a settlement the other day in her
breach-of-contract lawsuit.
Letizia, who played tough
street girl Marie in four Rocky movies, sued
Stallone, MGM, Columbia/Sony and Revolution Studios in
federal court after she was shut out of Rocky Balboa,
which was shot here last winter and is due for release Dec.
22.
Letizia had claimed
that she saw Stallone at a book signing in spring 2005 and
that he told Letizia that she had the part in the sixth
installment of the series that started here 30 years ago.
Her suit, prepared by Philly lawyer George Bochetto, said
she cleared her schedule so she could "devote herself to the
[film's] rigorous and accelerated production schedule."
As filming approached,
Letizia learned that Geraldine Hughes was cast. In previous
outings, Letizia had received the Screen Actors Guild
minimum for a small role. In this Rocky, Marie is a
lead.
Letizia has moved on. She
said Friday that she's in rehearsal for Five in One,
a new comedy due to open in late September at Peoples Improv
Theatre in New York. She also tours her one-woman show,
Over the Edge.
